Editorial Policy
Standards for Garnet Counselling's public mental health information.
Purpose and scope
Garnet Counselling publishes general educational information to help adults understand mental health topics, therapeutic approaches, and options for seeking support. Website content is not an assessment, diagnosis, treatment plan, emergency service, or substitute for care from a qualified professional who understands an individual's circumstances.
Evidence and clinical claims
Clinical statements should reflect the scope and limitations of current professional literature or recognized guidance. Content distinguishes general research findings from what can be expected by an individual. It does not promise outcomes, speed of recovery, suitability, superiority, or universal effectiveness. Emerging, debated, or theory-based material should be identified as such rather than presented as settled fact.
Professional boundaries
Articles do not establish a therapeutic relationship and do not use client stories, testimonials, endorsements, or confidential information. Garnet Counselling does not ask clients to review, endorse, like, or share the practice. Examples must be fictional or sufficiently general that no person could reasonably be identified.
Corrections
Potential factual, professional, accessibility, or privacy concerns may be sent to andrew@garnetcounselling.com. Substantive errors will be assessed and corrected as promptly as reasonably possible. Where an error could create a material health or safety risk, the affected content should be corrected or removed pending review.
Commercial independence
Garnet Counselling does not accept payment for editorial coverage, sell links, or publish undisclosed sponsored health content. References to services, booking platforms, insurers, professional organizations, or therapeutic approaches are not endorsements, guarantees, sponsorships, or certifications unless explicitly and accurately stated.
Emergency information
This website is not monitored for emergencies. In Canada, call or text 9-8-8 for suicide crisis support, call 911 for immediate danger, or attend the nearest emergency department.
